Where the birds decide

There are pictures from two days this time.

Yesterday at the feeding station there were very few bird pictures, and maybe it was my own fault.

I was sitting outside, you see, not inside the hide itself, and the birds were probably not really used to me.

The small birds, yes, they didn’t care much.

But the other rascals were a bit more cautious.

You have to learn to wait on their terms, not your own.

The coal tit still sat on the branch for a while, small and cocky in the sun, as if it wanted to show that it certainly wasn’t afraid.

A guard in the spruce top

At the very top of a spruce sat a great grey shrike.

It probably wasn’t there to come down to the seeds, but rather to come down after some small bird.

That’s how it is in the forest, there is both food and danger in the same place, and everyone knows it.

All around, life could still be heard going on: siskin, treecreeper, chaffinch, willow tit, nuthatch, blue tit, goldcrest, coal tit and great tit.

I didn’t see them all, but I heard them, and sometimes that is enough.

The jay came down to the feeding station, and so did three squirrels.

One of them sat down on the stump and ate in peace and quiet, with the sun in its fur and its tail raised like a question mark behind it.

Before autumn turns

Before autumn turns

Yesterday offered a lot of sun, but also a bit of wind.

You could feel in your body that there aren’t many days left before autumn turns for real.

Soon it will be extra clothes on, and the light will become shorter and lower.

That is why I make the most of these days, while they last.

Six kilometres in the light

Today, Wednesday, I made my way to the Silo car park.

I think it is currently the cheapest car park in town of the ones you have to pay for, and I like low prices.

It was almost six kilometres today.

Right now walking feels easy again, and it may be because I have increased my walks lately.

The body remembers, if you just give it the chance.

Along the way the city offered its own pictures: the shadows from the bridge railing lying like stripes across the ground, a cyclist heading away towards the houses, the sun dazzling over the quay and glittering in the water.

At the bathing area the parasols were still standing, even though the season has already passed.

In the square people sat on the benches, each in their own moment.

And on the wall by the industrial area the graffiti shouted out its colours, as if it refused to let autumn turn grey.

Ideas that come when you walk

Ideas that come when you walk

Then, as usual these last few weeks, I have been working on my phone app Hubbo Foto.

When you are out on your walks, you come up with things that ought to be added to the app.

The thoughts get to move in step with your feet, and suddenly something pops up.

On top of that, I get help from test users.

Today it was Ola who wanted a spirit level in the picture, and yesterday it was Susanne who wanted a close button on all tabs.

That’s how it grows, one wish at a time.

Today I also realised that the grids could have more variants: thirds, diagonal, golden ratio and spiral.

It might help photographers think right when they take their pictures, and probably me too.

I’ll be honest: I am very impressed with myself when I use the app.

And why not?

You should be allowed to be proud of what you have built with your own hands and your own curiosity.
