The same streets again
Two days with a bit of photography.
Less photography than usual, but that happens sometimes.
It gets a little boring walking almost the exact same routes every time.
The same bridge, the same water, the same wooden houses in a row.
On the other hand, that’s right where the flowers are bright in their box, so that’s something.
Going out into the woods to photograph birds is more than I can manage right now.
Nor do I think the birds are too keen on coming out to eat seeds, or whatever else you might offer them.
The only one that cooperated was a jackdaw right on the cobblestones, and it was probably mostly on its own business.

She describes her work as research-based, using concepts like Geological Empathy and Sublime Rheology to explore the relationship between humanity, nature, technology, and built environments.
Young, Inspiring and International: LOBA Emerging Talent
Furthermore, German photographer Serghei Duve won the Newcomer Award 2025 with his photo series “Bright Memory”.
In the project, he explores his family’s connection to Transnistria.

Grills and kiosks
It ended up being kiosks instead.
The Gideonsberg grill with its greaser-style menu, and the old hot dog kiosk in the square where two gentlemen stood talking in the shade.
Things like that stay standing while everything else changes, and maybe that’s why I keep going back to the same routes after all.

A day in Stockholm
A day in Stockholm wouldn’t be half bad.
There is significantly more to photograph there.
And visiting Fotografiska is usually on the agenda when you’re in the big city — Martin Parr is one of the exhibitors right now.
You recognize his images right away, with everyday humor and lots of colors.
Moderna Museet is tempting too.
They are showing Brassaï, who was a very talented photographer whose work I really like.
Quite far from Parr, by the way: dark streets and night owls instead of flash and color.
But both are looking at the same thing: people doing what people do.

Writing course in August
Writing course in August
Then on August 10th, it’s time for a week-long writing course at Tärna Folk High School.
The school is located in a historic and peaceful village setting, with warm yellow manor-style buildings and a large, lush green park surrounding it.
If anything, that ought to get the writing going.
I’ve been to courses before, but photo courses back then, so this will be something new.
Hopefully, I’ll take something away from a week of writing—a few tips and tricks—and hopefully, it’s something that will show here on the blog as well.
Though if I’m being honest, it’s probably the delicious home-cooked food that appeals the most.
And the breakfast.
