Thursday in town
Thursday, and I was down in town for a good long while yesterday.
Fika with the old boys, and an old friend from way back dropped by for a bit as well.
I thought Kent was going to doze off right in the middle of it all — that’s how it looked, anyway, sitting there with his sunglasses pushed up on his forehead.
On Thursdays a fair few from Västerås Photo Club Aros turn up too, so I stayed put on my chair a while longer.
But there was no more fika for me.

Young, Inspiring and International: LOBA Emerging Talent
German photographer Serghei Duve also took the 2025 Newcomer Award with the photo series “Bright Memory”.
In the project he explores his family’s connection to Transnistria.

The long way back in 32 degrees
To get a bit of exercise I then took the long way down towards Västerås City Hall, and from there back to the car, which I had parked over at Blåsbo.
It was hard work getting from town to the car park in 32 degrees.
And trying to walk in the shade the whole way, that was simply impossible.

Strängnäs, and the gearbox that gave out
Today it was a trip to Strängnäs instead, to meet up with my daughter, her boyfriend and their dog.
They had puttered all the way from Västerås, and I think they said three and a half hours to get there.
But just as they were nearly in, the gearbox gave out, so they had to back into the harbour.
Tomorrow it’s a tow boat home — that’s covered by the insurance.
So it turned into a while in the harbour instead.
The boats lay close together beneath the windmill up on the hill, the ducks stood on their heads down by the jetty, and up on the square a couple of kids sat in the middle of a game of giant chess.
Edith had to be lifted across from the jetty to the boat, and she had her opinions about that step.

On the way home I just had to drive up to the old, historic Sundby Hospital.
I could never have imagined it was that big.
I think we read that there were over 800 patients there, and if so I can only imagine how many staff it must have taken.
They had their own crops and livestock, where some of the patients could get work.
Clearly interesting.
I had hoped for some kind of museum, but I didn’t see one as we swished past.
