A morning like any other
Like every other morning, it started with a solid breakfast, and then getting to enjoy a moment of coffee with a refill.
I think I’ve written this before, but in my first cup I always have a teaspoon of coconut oil – neutral and organic.
Then I top up with water and bring some fruit to have during the walk to and from the town centre, where I’ve now gone almost every day for the past few months.
It might seem like it’s starting to get a little dull to trudge the same routes day after day, but that’s exactly why I actually force myself to take detours, so there’s a bit of new street photography and new views every day.

She describes her own work as research-based and uses concepts such as Geological Empathy and Sublime Rheology to explore the relationship between humans, nature, technology and built environments.
Franco Buoncristiani
Franco Buoncristiani is an Italian documentary and street photographer based in Rome.
His photography revolves above all around social issues, migration, people on the outskirts of Rome and everyday life in settings that rarely get attention.
His most acclaimed project is “Grand Hotel Metropoliz”, a documentation of the residents of Metropoliz in Rome – a former factory transformed into housing and a unique, artistically shaped community for people from many different countries.
The series portrays everyday life, community and the struggle for the right to a home.
The project took around three years to complete and is built on the photographer first being accepted by the residents before he began photographing them.

When my legs wouldn’t
But walking like I did on Monday, where it ended up being over ten kilometres, that turned out to be a bit too much for the body after all.
And now later in the week, when it was close to thirty degrees, it wasn’t easy to convince my legs to head in the direction my brain wanted.

The shade at Global Living
That’s exactly why it’s a pure pleasure to come down to Global Living around 10:30 or thereabouts, and that there’s actually shade in the middle of the heat.
Just to sit down and have that third cup of coffee for the day.
And to have the old boys to talk with – it’s incredible how many problems we solve there at the table.
You should have had a hidden tape recorder, and then got to play back everything we said, with distorted voices of course.
Always something happening
Always something happening
Because at Global Living there’s always something happening, like today when a bunch of guys turned up with someone dressed as Spiderman.
He doesn’t yet know what the future holds for him – but right now, blissfully unaware.
