A slow morning

Monday, and we took it easy in the morning, me with my super breakfast plus that really good coffee.

Then I got myself sorted, and today there was even a bit of luxury shaving – although it is that every single time I shave.

I do classic wet shaving, but not with a straight razor – with blades in a safety razor.

I remember the first time: I looked like a crater where I’d gone at it with the razor, with bits of paper over every spot of blood.

🙈 But I gave it another go, and without pressing down with the razor it came out perfect.

On top of that it’s a whole lot cheaper to use shaving soap and buy blades than to run some damn shaving foam that smells the way it does.

Stora Sundby Castle in Södermanland – the neo-Gothic “calendar castle” with its towers and battlements, photographed on a summer’s day under a dramatic sky.

80 square metres and done for

After that came a bit of mowing on the little lawn we have on the plot.

That I’m out of shape, that I knew – but that you’d get quite so damn sweaty from 80 square metres, that you wouldn’t think you’d have to.

Monday means Prisma

Monday means Prisma

Mondays mean meeting up with Bildgruppen Prisma.

Today Stora Sundby was on the schedule, a place I sadly have never been to before.

Susanne and I drove out there and it turned into a joint outing, where I then went off and shot a few frames after the meal.

As soon as you arrive you see the towers poking up behind the red roofs of the yellow outbuildings.

Then it opens up, and there sits the castle above the meadow with its rail fence, heavy clouds rolling in behind it.

So beautiful, and the nature around it is every bit as lovely.

A castle that is a calendar

In 1848 Sweden’s most beautiful castle – Stora Sundby Castle – was completed, boasting four great towers symbolising the seasons, twelve smaller towers for the months, 52 rooms for the weeks of the year and 365 windows for all the days of the calendar.

Camera talk and a borrowed filter

Around the table it went the way it usually goes: cameras on the table and talk about gear.

Roffe sat for a while in the shade by the yellow wall with his telephoto lens in his lap, taking it easy.

I also got to borrow a soft filter from Erik and tried it out.

A completely different feel – everything turns dreamlike and a little hazy at the edges.

The portrait came out soft and lovely, while the house in the dusk light turned almost ghostly.

Ending by the water

Ending by the water

Finally there was coffee by the water together with Bildgruppen Prisma.

The jetty sits there with its green and white railing, water lily pads on the surface and the forest on the far shore.

Hard to sit there and not feel good.

Summing up the day: a lovely one, and we escaped the rain.

But after a full day like this one, the tiredness caught up with me.
