Two wins

VSK have started the Swedish Cup in the best possible way.

First a win away against Vänersborg, and now a home win against Frillesås BK where the figures finally settled at 9–3.

Two minutes was all it took

It did not even take two minutes for VSK to open the scoring.

Robin Odén gave the home side the lead, and from there the evening was somehow given.

The ball sat right, the legs were moving, and the green and white rolled on towards a Frillesås goal where the keeper in pink had to go down in the spraying snow time after time.

Spångberg set the tone

One who was sharper than the rest was Viktor Spångberg.

He made it 7–3 from a corner in the 66th minute, assisted by August Ljung, and 8–3 in the 83rd after Nicklas Ögren.

But it was not just the goals.

It was the passes.

That is what it looks like when someone makes up their mind.

Between the posts

At the other end stood the backup goalkeeper.

Albin Gustavsson got to guard VSK’s goal this evening against Frillesås BK, and he did it with distinction.

It is not the easiest of jobs, stepping in when the team is rolling on at the other end and you are left standing in the cold, waiting for those chances that suddenly come.

But he handled it, and he handled it well.

The sloppiness was there too

Because it was not all perfect.

There was some sloppiness on and off, above all in the middle period when Frillesås got three goals in and the match for a while felt more open than it should have.

But the points came anyway, and the joy showed in the faces.

Just look at Fredrik Nordby after his goal – that laugh cannot be acted.

And what about me

This was my first match of the season, and it showed.

I need to get back in sync, find my way back to the rhythm, to where you should stand and when you should press the finger down.

On top of that I forgot both gloves and hat.

It got properly cold up there, and at times my hands were not much use.

The spare battery was left at home too – this time I did not need it, but it is precisely then that you need it that you do not have it.

Next time everything goes in the bag.

Vetlanda is next

On Tuesday considerably tougher opposition awaits.

Vetlanda away, with Martin Landström and Pontus Vilén in the side.

It would be cool if they could beat Vetlanda away from home.

And the VSK I saw on Friday was damned good.

It feels as if they are on the right track.

So good to see the mean machine again – at times it was a lively Green and White chewing away.
